Thursday, Feb 13
DETAILS:
All tasks on Thursday are involved with setting up the Quilt Show at the Rec Center. There are many jobs and they vary widely, both physically and mentally. Just show up and there will be something you can do and somewhere your help will be desperately needed! Tasks include:
- Setting up pipes and drapes - This starts at 8AM in the morning. Pipes are unloaded from the trucks, the floor is taped, pipes are moved into place on the floor and assembled. Drapes are distributed and hung on the pipes. Chains and poles are distributed according to the layout. Some parts of set-up are very, very physical, BUT many of the jobs are easy and just require walking, sorting, or checking. You are strongly urged to enlist the help of your younger, stronger family members, friends and neighbors!
- Quilt Check-in & Sorting - Process quilts being entered into the show. Sort quilts according to the quilt show lay-out.
- Quilt Runners - Use wagons to take sorted quilts from check-in area to designated hanging areas on show floor.
- Quilt Hanging - Attach hangers to larger quilts, thread poles through sleeves for others. If stronger, then up the ladder to hang. If not, then hand quilts up the ladder.
- Baskets - Check-in raffle baskets and set-up Basket Promenade.
- Boutique - Receive items from sellers to be included in the boutique. Check to see that tags are filled out properly. Arrange items to be sold in a pleasing manner.
- Food - Transport food from June's house to Rec Center and set-up kitchen and lunch area.
- Night Security - Watch the show floor area so other Rec Center visitors, some coming as late as 9PM, don't wander into the show area.
ALSO, we need many ladders, screwdrivers (both flat and Phillips head), and wagons. Please label everything with your name!!!
